Skip Hull is an economist and vice president of CIC Research, Inc. CIC Research, Inc. is an economics and market research firm that was founded in San Diego in 1965. Mr. Hull joined CIC Research in 1977. The firm has been active in travel and tourism research since its inception. CIC’s largest ongoing visitor industry research study is the “Survey of International Air Travelers.” Each year since 1985, CIC has conducted this annual survey of nearly 80,000 international air travelers for the ITA/Tourism Industries (formerly the USTTA). CIC is also currently responsible for processing more than four million monthly international arrival and departure records for the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.

Mr. Hull provides ongoing visitor market analysis and economic impact estimates for several major U.S. metropolitan areas. These clients include the convention and visitors bureaus for Detroit, Seattle, Los Angeles, Anaheim/Orange County, and San Diego. In addition, Mr. Hull has completed several studies on international visitors and their spending patterns for California Tourism, the Las Vegas Convention and Visitor Authority, Disneyland, and VISA International.

Mr. Hull conducted an analysis of visitor conversion from a literature fulfillment campaign for the Santa Cruz Convention and Visitors Bureau. Mr. Hull was also the project manager for a literature conversion study of cultural visitors to San Diego for the San Diego Convention and Visitors Bureau.

Other recent studies conducted by Mr. Hull include: The Economic Impact of the Aviation Industry on the Southern California Economy, The Economic and Fiscal Impacts of Tourism On The San Diego Economy, The Economic and Fiscal Impacts of the San Diego Convention Center, and a hotel guest registration tracking database, and a countywide hotel room nights segmentation study.
