The Story of Oak Creek®

Some places are just special. In the case of Oak Creek Golf Club®, a number of carefully planned and naturally occurring elements have come together to make it that way.

For starters, the city of Irvine, California, where you'll find Oak Creek, experiences nearly 300 days of sunshine a year. Out on the course, you may even find that the mild weather is an intriguing counterbalance to the challenges of the Tom Fazio-designed golf course.

As the third of four successful collaborations between Fazio and The Irvine Company, Oak Creek Golf Club is forever linked to one of the greatest course designers in the game. However, that's not the only reason for its stirring sense of place.

Oak Creek Golf Club is also tied to the heritage of Orange County as part of the original 93,000-acre Irvine Ranch®.  Before Oak Creek Golf Club’s open in 1996, the land was an orange grove that was reinterpreted for modern-day use with careful attention to environmental sensitivity and to preserving traces of its the past.

Today, the towering heritage eucalyptus that once provided a windbreak for the citrus trees now contribute to the peaceful setting. No matter your vantage point, not a single house or road interrupts the scenic beauty of the course.

But, Oak Creek is more than just a golfer's sanctuary. While owls and hawks nest in the eucalyptus, egrets and herons fish in the meandering creek. In fact, Oak Creek Golf Club is proud to actively participate in the innovative Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary Program for Golf Courses. The course has also made important strides in conserving water and reducing the use of chemicals and pesticides.

Its Tom Fazio-designed golf course and clubhouse can be enjoyed by all guests with a level of service commonly found at private golf clubs. With an exemplary Forecaddie Program to enhance your golf experience, players can enjoy the expertise and assistance of professional forecaddies as an “add-on” service as you play Tom Fazio’s Oak Creek Golf Course. Each forecaddie has received intensive training, learning the nuances of our beautifully crafted courses. You’ll discover it is one of the finest programs in the world.

The award winning practice facility showcases grass and artificial turf hitting stations, a dedicated putting and chipping green with sand bunker, Cool Clubs - the world's leading golf club fitting company, and numerous PGA–trained Golf Instructors offering valuable assistance for beginners and veterans alike through private, semi-private and group lessons. And offering an expansive selection of different clinics purposed for every shot, tutelage to corporate groups, they can create comprehensive clinics tailored to anyone’s needs. Their expert services include club fittings, video analysis and much more.  With 65 natural turf tees, a nine-acre all-terrain landing area, two practice greens and a large practice bunker, it’s no wonder the practice facility is widely recognized as one of Southern California’s finest.  Partnered with Cool Clubs from Arizona, they bring professional club fitting services to the practice facility. Director of Instruction, Glenn Deck, is a PGA Member and Senior Editor of Golf Tips Magazine. His impressive list of accolades includes being recognized as one of Golf Magazine’s “Top 100 Teachers in America” and Southern California’s PGA “Teacher of the Year.” Under his skilled guidance, Oak Creek Golf Academy® is the preeminent training facility in Southern California

The Oak Creek Café features both indoor and al fresco dining, an ideal spot to relax before or after your game. Dine indoors by the rustic fireplace or outdoors on our fabulous patio. Either way, you’ll enjoy sumptuous cuisine with a fantastic view of one of the top finishing holes at one of the Southern California golf courses. Oak Creek Café is open for breakfast and lunch as well as for cocktails and hors d’oeuvres. So, stop in for a morning pastry and latté or a freshly made sandwich in the afternoon to satisfy your pre or post-game cravings.

Oak Creek anticipates their new banquet room to open for use this winter 2012, so no matter the occasion, come celebrate in style at Oak Creek Golf Club - they offer a range of services and facilities to accommodate your needs and desires for a personalized wedding or social or corporate event.  Leave the details, from flowers and decor to music and entertainment in the capable hands of our seasoned catering teams whether you wish to enlist the help of The Resort at Pelican Hill or Island Hotel’s off-site culinary team. They will fulfill and exceed your expectations for a mesmerizing event that both you and your guests will treasure.

In all, an inviting boutique golf shop, club cleaning service and complimentary parking will further enhance your experience at Oak Creek Golf Club. While you may not realize that all of these unique elements, you will surely realize that the 71-par, 6,834-yard course beautifully captures and elevates all there is to love about the game of golf.
