Holding the creme-of-the-crop in art and fun, visitors have a number of opportunities when deciding how to spend their time in Costa Mesa.
Bars, Live Music and Laid Back Vibes
Aside from the culinary festival, there are a variety of destinations where on a regular basis, the party never stops. Depending on the mood, Costa Mesa’s nightlife provides a spectrum of experiences starting at the bars. The Wayfarer brings some of the best local bands to the stage on Costa Mesa’s westside. With its laid-back vibes and fully stocked kitchen and bar, it is a perfect happy hour hotspot. On the eastside of the city, The Country Club is an upscale bar and restaurant with a dedicated stage and dance space. Live music can ben enjoyed in the evenings during the week and during brunch hours on Saturdays and Sundays. If you’re feeling thirsty in the afternoon, daily happy hour starts at 2 p.m.!

For a different type of music lover, Keys on Main at The Triangle offers an entirely different experience as one of Orange County’s most popular dueling piano bars. It’s the perfect casual hangout spot for friends to enjoy the brews and the battling tunes of impressive musicians. On Thursday evenings, the Costa Mesa Beer Trail is the place to be as Barley Forge Brewing Co. hosts a weekly jazz night with soulful music, brews and food in their tasting room.
Following the wave of casual laid back vibes, tasting rooms on the Costa Mesa Beer Trail offer a comfortable local atmosphere to enjoy an evening out. Ruin Bar at The LAB, The Harp Inn or Goathill Tavern are all great options for local brews. Hot tip: Goathill Tavern is famous for having more than 100 beers on tap and its dive bar atmosphere, complete with peanut shells crunching underfoot.
If your drink of choice is a martini, you might lean a little more on the upscale side of Costa Mesa’s nightlife. Silver Trumpet, Mastro’s and Water Grill are all perfect options for sophisticated ambiance to relax with a date or friends while enjoying a perfect craft cocktail or high-end wine.
Nightclubs, Dance Floors & Inclusive Spaces
If the goal is to dance the night away, The Triangle and Time nightclubs offer a spectacular light show in a 13,000 square-foot space. With the look and feel of a Vegas club patrons come dressed to impress as the bottle services flows and celebrity DJs do what they do best. Mansion OC is another spot in the trendy SoBeCa district. It includes a pool table and outdoor lounge along with live hip-hop Saturdays. On a smaller scale, Casa, Commissary Lounge and Mesa all bring in live DJs to create the perfect night out atmosphere.

Step out for a night of fabulous fun at Costa Mesa’s newest addition to nightlife, Strut. The LGBTQ club adds more glitz and glamour to Costa Mesa’s westside as a completely inclusive playground paying homage to the 80s. As new patrons flock to shiny new dancefloors, Tin Lizzie continues to be a local favorite as Orange County’s premier gay bar with a cozy and welcoming atmosphere.
