Santa Ana River Trail & Parkway
The Santa Ana River Trail sprawls across three counties following along the Santa Ana River. Connecting inland neighborhoods to ocean cities, it’s a popular trail to experience the different landscapes of California on one ride.
Mountain to Sea Trail
Starting in the Weir Canyon National Preserve, the Mountain to Sea Trail connects urban parks, nature trails and preserved natural lands. True to its name, the 22-mile National Recreation Trail takes riders from the inland mountains all the way to the pristine coastlines of Newport Beach.
Along the Santa Ana River between Ball Road and Lincoln Avenue, Anaheim Coves is a 14-acre nature park complete with a children’s nature garden, outdoor exercise equipment, drinking fountains, benches and other outdoor amenities. A three-mile paved trail cuts through the native landscape allowing bikers to enjoy a leisure ride through the peaceful park.
Shady Canyon Trail
This trail starts in south Irvine and moves up the hills into the Irvine Ranch Natural Landmarks. The four-mile trail takes riders on a scenic trip with panoramic views of the nearby neighborhoods. The moderately difficult route has mixed terrain as different sections are paved, while others are dirt trails.
Huntington Beach Bicycle Trail
Right along the coastline, the twelve-mile Huntington Beach Bicycle Trail connects the westside of Huntington Beach to Newport Beach, leading into Balboa Peninsula. The paved trail hugs the sandy beaches of both cities, offering a different perspective to the well-known destination. For a long haul, start at Sunset Beach and ride all the way down to Balboa Pier.
